I was at a lfs last week called Blue Gold Aquarium browsing their selection when I came across a 30 gallon tank with 2 12" Arapaima Gigas. When I asked, the owner didn't even know how big they get. I'm certain they will die, or be picked up by someone who doesn't have the space for them if nobody saves them. They were asking for $250 each, but I'm 100% sure they can be talked down, especially after the chat I had with them on how big they get, and how hard it's going to be to sell them. I can get the exact address and phone number if anyones interested.


Mods if you feel this would do better in the Market please move. Thanks

That's just what I was thinking. I don't think they knew what they were ordering. I just hope that some kid with a 55 gallon tank comes in and buys them.
 
Lol I made a thread about these 'paimas about 2-3 weeks ago. Shame that more than likely someone with an inadequate aquarium will buy these. There was actually 3 before so ones already gone. Got my dat from there though, they do have a good selection.
 
Yeah, they do, they are actually one of my favorites atm. I'm almost certain they didn't know what they ordered. I told them I would try to help get rid of them.

LOL.. Yea they have a great selection and the cheapest prices Ive seened.. and they do negotiate!! which is un heard of now....
 
I'll check with them tomorrow.
 
Im up in newburgh but i'll have my 300 gallon up and running soon, but they will eventually still need bigger!
