Does anyone know if there is anything else, freshwater diseases, that look like ich? I was all excited and posting pictures of this giant great new Clown Loach that I got for a great deal, however now it appears like it has ich. I've upped the water temp to 84 degrees, added an additional air pump with two airstones, dosed salt mildly, and treated the water mildly with Jungle Fish Care Ick Guard. I've been doing this for about 3 days now, and I know it can take up to 10 to fully treat, but I just wondered if anything else appears as white spots? There seem to be more of them (spots), but smaller and less defined spots then I've traditionally seen as ich. Just wondering.

Seriously though, If it looks like someone took a salt shaker to your loach, it's most likely ick. white beads on the surface. Fish sprinkles, if you may...

Post up a pic.

Did a large % water change, salted and treated again. Temps at 84. It appears that he is the only one in the tank infected. (Housed with 7 other Loaches and a Jag). I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

3 days and no other infections is good news. Keep it up. Does he show any change? eating, swimming, etc.

Whatever it was he didn't make it. Sorry to double post (I posted this in the Loaches Sub Forum), but here he is! All I can think is that the salt, 1/2 dose of Ich treatment, or higher temp did it. Too bad, he was good sized for a Loach. He's my first REAL fish loss. Sorry everybody!

I just posted in your other thread, too. It might not've been ich. Although the ich meds themselves will kill Loaches.

I used only half the recomendation for salt and ich medicine, knowing that Loaches are very sensitive. I'm worried now about the rest of my fish. Only one other 3" Clown loach seems to have any indiciation of any illness (white spots). I have 4 CL, 2 Botias, 1 JD and 1 Jaguar (both cichlids are juveniles).
