anything except fish food

I just want to know things that people feed to their fish other then feeders and fish food and anything else you can get at the pet shop.


This is my list-
crickets
shiners
beatles
roaches
plain cooked chicken
lizards
and alot of other stuff I dont feel like naming them all

Most fish would prefer raw meats over cooked. As long as it eats meat in the wild it will be o.k....Fish are salmonila resistant as they are carriers. I feed my fish (actually pretty cheap too!) regular shrimp from super market. The larger fish get shrimps whole shell tails and all. The smaller ones get a fine minse. It is easier to work with frozen as long as you have a sharp knife.....This is not all I feed, take your list, add the shrimp, a lil lean beef (same preperation regiment) Night crawlers, and deff some veggies. The best one for me is squishing the inside of peas in the tank (also helps cure swim bladder problems). As far as like petsmart they have expensive frozen, Beef heart blood worms, brine, and a really good variety pack. If I buy frozen this is the one I get. Hope this helps!

I used to have some Triops that I had bought from wal-mart until I fed them to my oscar. They are like sea monkeys only they look like little horseshoe crabs. He loved them.

Canned green beans,carrots,peas.Started off feeding to my applesnails but discovered the other fish like the canned veggies too.Got a few cases for free so I was feeding my snails and tossed some to the mbuna ,oscar plecos,assorted cats, all ate it.
The oscar likes applesnails,he gets my culls

Reptile pellets, and get this... bird pellets, rabbit pellets, etc.

I've had Giant Gouramis eat filter media voluntarily (before I could put a stop to it.)

When my snakes do not eat, my lungfishes will eat the leftover mice. (Frozen/thawed)
