I have a very young baby silver, Booger, who has only grown about half an inch in the first month since I got him. This is largely just because I'm not in any hurry to make him a monster, but partly because so far his favorite food is flake. He prefers it to pellets (though he will eat them if that's all there is). It's kind of funny seeing this tiny little aro swimming around gobbling flake, so I don't discourage it.
Just checking to see if there's any negatives to slightly slower growth. I know it's fun to race to see who can get theirs to monster size quickly, but I'm really in no rush. It's not like I starve the fish, so I expect he'll speed up at some point, but in the meantime I wondered if there's anything bad I haven't thought of.
Still can't get a decent photo through this damn acrylic, though he was spooked from me messing around in the tank here so it's partly on him...
