I know their pumps are of a quality unlike others.
However what about their filter media ? Are their ceramic rings better then others ?

I mean every brand claims to be better, more porous, etc etc.
How can I tell which one is for real ?
Or does it make a difference ?

also quartz glass, ceramic, rings, balls, etc. which is the best ?

Eheim substract pro is great...their ceramic rings is just mechanical filtration, does a good job but do very little biologically.

I have used their canisters for 25 yrs GREAT FILTERS buy always used just floss or carbon from cheaper sources.

I use substrat pro in one tank and Pond matrix in another. The difference? Other than price, not much. I think as long as you have enough surface area for your bb, anything will work.

I do swear by Jager heaters though. Best money ever spent on a heater

I see thanks all for the replies. I won't go and buy eheim filter medias then. As I'm more interested in bio filtration.

Actually eheim substrat pro and Eheim Ehfilav are bio filtration...the seachem pond matrix sells for about 25 bucks for 4L...Eheim ehfilav sells for about $25 for 5 liters. Substrat pro is "better" and of a different material...to me it seems to get clogged less often...but you pay for that convienence...it sells for about $60 for 5 liters.

I have to confess also that I am a sucker for convenience...I have 15L of substract pro in my 2262 along with 3L of mecanical floss.
