Anyone have any experience with this thing? Sounds great if it actually works.

The most technologically advanced way to add carbon dioxide to your aquarium for lush plant growth. The carbo-plus does not use bottled gas or reaction chambers to add co2 to your tank. Just attach the stainless steel unit containing the carbon bar into your aquarium, plug in the control box and turn the carbon-plus on! Replace the carbon block when carbo-plus tells you and enjoy the benefits of co2 without having to refill pressurized bottles. One year manufacturer guarantee.

I was looking at one of those, but I'm no going to spend that money, when it will be expended in only 6 weeks on my tank with it on a timer. For that much money you might as well buy a fully automated system, and just go to your local beer keg distributor, and rent a CO2 tank from them for $15 for a 15# tank. That will last you 6 months on a 135.

ok. I'm just starting to get into planted tanks so I'm trying to do all the research I can before I actually start the tank. Thanks for the info. I looked at a fully auto setup on Dr. Fosters Smiths but it was like almost $400!!!

A cheaper solution, but more time consuming is reaction canister. A 2 liter bottle, sugar, yeast and water, some silicone tubing and a powerhead. I am going to be trying one of these http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=9907&N=2004+113779, and I hope that it will be pretty good. It is pretty small, so if it works well, then I will get more. If you want a little better system than the reactor canister, try the semi automatic system that is $119.99.

these eloctro-carbon units suck I tried them. they remove other elemts from the water. search the planted tank forums for info on this unit and you will see what I mean. You are better off dosing flourish excel

Thanks man. Yeah, after doing some research on the web I found out they aren't that great. I want to do a fully auto setup but damn they're expensive!

WyldFya - I'll have to look into that diffuser some more. Sounds interesting.

Mine is on its way here. I'll let you know how it works compared to a powerhead, or if I notice a difference. I suspect a pressurized system is needed.
