I've used API Bio Chem Stars for my biological filter media for many years, over time I've collected quite a few of them and presently have my aquatop cf mkii 400 filled with them. An old Duetto submersible filter has 8 stars in it which is adequate to keep our 20 gallon long tank water at 0 ammonia and nitrates. I've noticed for some time now that these media aren't included in reviewers top 10 media for biological filtration and have to wonder why because they are excellent media. I'd have to admit they are pricey but they last forever and are resistant to clogging. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever used these?

Probably the price as you stated and many cheaper alternatives.
