API Tap Water Filter

Was looking at this the other day, meant to start a thread and ask if anyone was using one but forgot to. Heavy metals is the main concern coming from my tap and this looks like it may be a good alternative to NovAqua+ Plus.

At $20 for "25 to 125" gallons of water, that's a pretty expensive alternative!

its just a di cartridge with a charcoal prefilter. for di to work effectively it needs to be run off of RO water otherwise the minerals and salts that are naturally in water will foul the resins. thats why it only lasts 25-125 gallons. for the price you would pay for this small filter in a year, you could purchase a large DI tank from a local water supplier. and will be able to give you very low conductivity water. meaning it has more resistance to the flow of electricity because all the minerals have been removed from the water. for this to be healthy for fish, as they, like us, require minerals for normal healthy growth. also any fish waste in pure water will affect the ph alot more quickly and dramatically. so pure water from a di tank will need minerals added back into the water to restore the proper minerals the kind of fish your keeping need.
