I read in another thread that API test kits have serial numbers and the last 4 digits correspond to the expiration date, MM/YR. I did not see any serial number on my kit but i do see "Lot" numbers on each bottle. Is the Lot number the serial nunber?
I just tested my water for Nitrate 4 times. Twice with the API kit i bought and twice with an old kit that was given to me. The kit i bought read 5ppm and the kit that was given to me read 40ppm. The last 4 digits of the Lot # on the kit i purchased is 0809 and on the kit given to me, 0506. If those are expiration dates then both kits are expired...but i guess i would trust the kit i bought since it's newer.
I just set aside a tall glass of tap water and will perform the same test tomorrow.
