I've really enjoyed the trio of Apistogramma steindachneri I recently picked up for my 125g Guyana biotope. The females have each staked out a "den" under leaves/wood but on opposite ends of the tank where they chase off much larger Geophagus and Satanoperca with surprising intensity. The male tends to hang out in the middle of tank, occasionally venturing into one of the female's dens but usually just hanging around aimlessly. I'm hoping the male will perform his duties and produce some offspring with one or both of the females. So far, he seems clueless.
Anyone out there have experience with these Apistos? Any advice on breeding? I'd enjoy your input.
