Would Apistogramas be good fish to put in a 25 gallon planted tank? I'm getting ready to set up the tank today and will probably add the Apisto's in about 2 weeks. The tank is already cycled and I will just drain the water and save it of course. Put down a layer of Seachem Flourite and top it with sand i think?? Is that a good idea? I will then plant a few cheap plants just to see how well i can do this lol. I will be upgrading my current light to one that is 1 watt for every 2 gallons? I hope this is right. Then i will make my own co2 diffuser and start using fertilizer tablets in about 2 weeks after I add the fish on June 3rd. Does this sound like reasonable plan of action?

It sounds good. What type of Apistos? I have had Cacautoids and Borelli in planted tanks. They seem to like it. If you plan on breeding them some moss is a good idea.
A floating plant on top is a good idea.

Yeah, as of now, I only have a 10 g so apistos were up there in my list of possibilities. put up some pics when its set up. should be awesome.

I can probably put up some pics of the tank later today but it won't have the Apisto's until June 3rd when i have some other fish shipped with them. Its ok by me though cause that gives me plenty of time to get this tank set up right. I'll probably just put something like tetra's in it today just to keep it cycled or will the plants do that for me?
