ok i just ordered 1 of these plants in a bundle and i just realized it says that this plant has a 6 month dormancy period where it needs to be removed from the aquarium? is this true?

Maybe in nature they might go into a dormancy period when water levels are low. But in your aquarium where its always underwater with light I don't think they will. I suppose if you wanted to you could pull them from the tank keep them in a moist sealed bag in the dark and they keep until you wanted to plant them again.
