I was reading that one or two of the more prevelant species of apple snail are good with plants in that they prefer rotten vegetation to healthy plants. I'm currently aiming at getting one and keeping it with crypts, java moss, java fern, and giant anubus. Would that potentially be an issue?

Not sure which one does... but i once made that mistake and ended up waking up to a lightly planted 25G with nothing left but stalks within 24-48 hours...

So yeah... just becareful and pick the right one...

Will do, The plants I want to use are cichlid safe, meaning they've been in tanks with duboisi the most herbivorous of fish, lol. I wonder if snails care or will just eat any plant.

Edit: I mean I'd like to have more plants than just those, lol. But I've always wanted to do an invertibrate tank that is kinda a completely self sustaining tank relatively speaking(has every stage of life)

I keep 2 apple snails in my 120gallon planted tank. They only eats the algae on the leaves and the part of the leaves that are dying. Pretty useful as they pretty much keep my tank full of healthy plants!
