apple snails

I would like some info on apple snails, what fish can you put them with? My convict cichlids ate my last one. What do they eat? Any info will be appreciated.

We feed our apple snail lettuce, zuchini (sp?), shrimp pellets, and he eats algae....must be good because he is VERY acticve. I doubt the convicts will eat an apple snail if you get one large enough....they should be good with pretty much anything but the only experience i've had with them is with guppies Here is a pic of what ours looks like on his diet.

Thanks for the picture. I think the snails add to the look of the tank, especially for freshwater, something other than fish!

Just pick the most active one and they are a blast to watch....I enjoy it anyway

there quite good at cleaning up bits of left over food seam to eat every thing plants, vegetables, fish food, frozen foods, and live foods. seen them eat blood worms as well

So, what fish will eat them? i dont want to end up with another empty shell! The last one I had either got eaten by my parrot cichlids or my convicts. Do they over breed into the tank like some other types of snails?

I don't think apple snails will multiply, just dont use medications in the water, cause that will kill the snail

yup they multiply.

just don't leave any air gap at the top of the tank or they will over run the tank.
