Apple's Safari 4 "Worlds fastest internet browser?"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been told that Apple's Safari 4 is the fastest internet browser to date.

Now keep in mind I use MS Vista and that I have tweaked the "Holy H-E-Double Hockey sticks" out of Firefox 3 to get the best speed from my mediocre internet connection, but I am very surprised to report that out of the box Safari 4 runs almost as well as my tweaked Firefox.(Thank you madwahm.com for the Firefox 3 tweeking tips)

Now remember I said "Almost", but I must say that is quite impressive IMO.
I have found a few bugs in safari 4 but none that really bother my surfing, but I do hope to see them resolved in future updates.

I still think that my Tweaked Firefox 3 is faster than Safari 4 in some cases, but as fast as Safari 4 is out of the box I can see it being a possible multi platform contender in the future.

So has anyone else had any experience with Safari 4 or Firefox 3 Speed wise?

I switched to Safari some time back. Here is my analysis. When it first fires up (each time it's started) it appears to be a little slow. Then it starts speeding up. Then it bolts. Kind of like an old hot rod. When first started you gotta bear with it. Then.......... zooooom.

Safari has its own rendering engine that renders web pages wrong. It is really hard to develop on and no one should use it. Although it does have some cool custom CSS styles for form fields. But thats about it.

I love Chrome. The one and only problem I have with it is when a page takes too long to load it will sometimes quit loading and give an error that it couldn't find the page. But after a refresh it seems to load fine. But I really can't complain about a browser that is still in beta version and yet trumps FF and IE.

Yeah chrome does that a lot. I still use firefox but when chrome puts out a newer version I'm sticking with chrome. Sweet sweet browser.

I wish Chrome would come to the Mac soon but for now I am using Firefox. Safari is nice but it doesn't have some keyboard shortcuts I use constantly.

I dumped FF-3. Worst browser, imo. Super slow and yes it can be tweaked, but why should I have to write a bunch of code to cover up their sorry excuse for a browser? I'm on a mac now running Safari and I love it compared to IE or FF. FF-2 was a great browser. Why did they have to mess with it?
