PetsMart's biggest tank is 150 gallons.

I called and they told me this.

150 gallon:

Height - 31 inches

Width - 24 inches

Length - 48 inches (4 feet). That's the only one they have.

_____

I asked them for a long tank. They told me that the long one is the 120 gallon tank.

The measures are...

120 gallon:

Height - 26 inches

Length - 5 feet, 60 inches

Width - 18.5 (18 and a half)

_____

Okay, so... will I be better off buying the 120 gallon or the 150 gallon?

I hope that I can fit some tank mates in there... Maybe an oscar or other chichlid?

_____

People on other oscar sites have told me that the longer ones are better...

I'm not sure if I should get the 150 gallon or the 120 gallon.

Please, I don't want to make any long-term mistakes... Once I buy it, I buy it. No returning/exchanges...

So I have to get the right tank for oscars.

Which tank would be the best for an oscar or two?

Can they make a complete turn, play, eat, etc....?

_____

I don't know if this thread should go in the chichlid forum or the tank forum, sorry.

imo i would say the longer one,
but personally i would look around for a different tank maybe some other pet stores or maybe check online for places in your area or even on e-bay for something in your area, i know here in canada we have a website called kijiji.ca its like a local e-bay kinda thing so you can search in a specific area, not sure if anything like that for the states...
the petsmart here neer me charges an arm and a leg (or your first born) for a tank that size...
so personally i would try and not rush into it and try and look around a bit more, you could save yourself a bundle

craigslist for the win. you might have to wait for the right one, but it will be cheaper for sure, and most of the time people throw in the extras

I agree with the idea of looking elsewhere for a 6' tank but if I had to choose between the two, I would choose the longer one for oscars.

I agree you might have to wait for the a while to find what exactly your looking for. But on craigslist you can get a whole tank setup tank, filter, heater and extra goodies for half what petsmart wants for just the tank. But if your want it new and don't want to wait I'd go with the longer one.

also, 24" width would be good, but a 6 foot length is almost a necessity as well. I would look for a 180 (6x2x2) tank if possible :)

go long and wide a 180 would be sweet but a 125 would also be a great tank for them. I like the longer tanks b/c you have a better chance of getting a profile view as opposed to an short wide tank that would make them swim in circles.

I don't know where to get a 6x2x2 tank...

My petshops obviously don't have them... craigslist is too much trouble... Craigslist sellers usually live far away from me.

Can anyone recommend me a site that sells customized tanks where I can choose the dimensions I want? Or suggest where to get a prefered tank by oscars..

Please, thanks.
