I have approx. 6 in bamboo shark that I have in my 75 gal tank currently. I know I need a larger home for him. What would be the smallest ideal size? I have an oppurtunity to procure a 220 gal tank which is 72*24*29 is that sufficient, or should I go larger. I have read a bunch of different opinions on sizes of tanks to use for this shark. I am am jut trying to get an appropriate tank that the shark will be happy in.

Hey I personally bigger is always better and most likely you'll end up thinking about adding more fish (rays, angels, groupers..) Think big 400 gallon plus size. I would personally go with a 8-10 foot by 4-5 foot by 2 foot size tank. People say circuler tanks are better, but look wise rectangle.

Ok thank you for the assistance I will pass on that tank and seek a larger one. How long unill he will not fit it in my current set up so I have a time frame to acquire a larger tank?

You mean in the 75 gallon? Or the 220?

The 75 I would say up to 10-12 inch, because then turning in an 18inch wide tank is gonna be difficult....you probably have rocks in thier too..

220 I don't know what the foot print is, thier is many opinions about these topics.

You have about a year before you'll need something bigger. I'd make the shortest length of the tank at least twice the adult length of your shark.

Well - the 220 gallon would be a nice upgrade. The 75 gallon may work for a couple of months(maybe upto 6 months). But the 220 will likely be good for a year or so. Eventually you will need a tank or pond that is at least 750 gallons(8' in diameter) - when the bamboo shark reachs adulthood.

Well I am purchasing a 380 gallon tank for now, I am getting a pretty good deal on. Then I will make plans to build a pond in the garage. Thank you all for the assistance
