apropriate tank size sounds so much better than minimum... Anyways! Looking at doing some tanks for friends and I'm wondering what size tank y'all would put a single discus in? And 3 discus in? Or is there a better group number than 3? I don't know a ton about them just that they are more sensitive to stress and water quality than other fish generally are.

Thanks in advance!

Wouldn't bother with discus if they only want one or 3, best kept in shoals of 5+ which means large tanks and heaps of water changes, most pro keepers and breeders do 100% water changes everyday or 2 which is needed to get these fish growing properly and keep them happy. Planted and tanks with substrate will stunt young discus growth. Sure you can keep them alive in small numbers and planted tanks but you'll end up with crappy looking stressed fish that have hardly grown after 6 months.

 Ideally, SUCCESS w/ discus is achieved by 1) Gathering as much info as possible BEFORE you start. 2) Obtaining suitable equipment for the task. 3) Choosing a RELIABLE source for purchase of stock & 4) Properly feeding, cleaning & caring for your fish. i
