Well this is the third year for this project so I figured its time to
share my progress. It has not changed much in the three years the only thing
I am changing is the type of fish I am using. The first two years I used sunfish and perch from a local pond. They worked out great the only draw back is what to do with them in the fall.I tried to winter them in the stock tank but it just got too cold for the pump to keep a opening in the ice.
this year I am using goldfish I have been adding them 20 a week and after this past weekend my total is 100.I planted the lettuce last week and as you will see in the following pics it has already sprouted

cool little project

What other veggies do you grow?

Interesting. We may have to try something like this. We've got lettuce growing in the yard, but it seems like it would be easier/cleaner to grow it this way.

Which varieties of lettuce did you plant?

This year I planted Romain ,Baby Romain and Iceberg
last year I grew a couple of the red leafy variety's I forget the names but all did great. I like the Romain the best this is also my first try at Iceberg.
it is definitely a cleaner way to go

I do mine indoors year round. Those gold fish will out grow that pond pretty quickly.

they will be fine for the growing season I am banking on them getting bigger to increase the bio load as the plants mature. In the fall I will just put up a free goldfish posting on craigslist.
