Does anyone have any experience with the surface skimmer box you can buy as an add on to the Remora skimmer? I am having more problems getting it in the right spot and getting it to stay level. Anyone have problems too? Remedies?

I have a buddie that has one, never had any issues, if you have specific questions I will call and ask him.

I don't know if he has the maxijet 1200 hooked up to his or not, so his may be slightly different. I am having a very hard time keeping the box level at the water level, so the box slowly tips until the pump no longer is receiving water and runs dry. Thank goodness I have been here both times it has done it. The screws are pretty difficult to screw on properly, once you screw it on you have to see if it is lined up right in the water because you can't adjust it at all without unscrewing it and starting over. The screws are right next to each other too, so they don't really help with anything besides holding it up vertically.

Thanks simple, yes I agree Aqua C is very helpful. I have an ev-400 from them too. Great products and helpful service. The rio pump would mean a different overflow box, so I don't know how those ones are constructed. I will email them I guess.

I was talking about Pelo. He never mentioned having any issues.

Contacting AquaC would be a good place to start though.

When I had my salt tank running, I had a Remora Pro with the Mag 3 pump. Did have similar issues when I was first setting it up. I found you have to tweak how far underwater the box is to avoid it tilting and pump running dry as you noticed. Once I got it figured out, the skimmer ran great. Would be worth it to contact the company. Make sure the box you have is designed for the brand of punp you have.

Thanks, that is what I have been trying to do. Tweaking it and seeing what happens. I wish they would have put the screws farther apart. I feel like it would have prevented this issue.

You might be able to move the screws yourself. I also had to stay on top of evaporation.

Ya that might be a possibility. I have noticed the evaporation thing as well. Not a lot of margin for fluctuation in water level.
