Has any one tried to drill a hole in the bottom of a ac110 and add a stand pipe instead of an media.

from what i was thinking it would feed your sump with no fear of ever stopping, any extra water would just flow back into the tank.

Any thoughts on this idea

Sounds like a good idea, but the problem with it is that return flow regulates the gravity overflow. If you add power to the drain / overflow you will never equalize drain and return flow. In the end you will either overflow your sump or burn out your return pump from running dry.

Now I know what to do with my AC110 that I can't use, if it works.

would only work as a constant flow siphon, not as an overflow. No better than draining your tank with a small hose

100gph, 300gph, 500gph....
....It will all end up on your floor anyway.

just get an overflow box or a predrilled tank.

I can see this in a dream..working. As everything usually does. OP, try it out, let us know what happends :)

Just put a DiY plastic box in front of the intake and add another U-tube to it so it works similar to an overflow.

You would definitely have match up problems with the AC100 and the return of the pump coming from the sump.
