Aqua clear 50 powerhead problems

Ok i got the ac powerhead believing i could use it to make a sump with my 10 gallon tank, the problem is when i connect the tubing to the power head to supply water to the main 55 gallon tank it flows very low. I am using 3/4 inch pvc to hang on the back of the tank and that same pipe connected to the tube to which the powerhead is connected to. When i put my hand in the 10 gallon tank to adjust the flow i see that the water is coming from the top aeration hole so its not giving the pressure it would if it wasnt there. How do i stop this. I have a ballvalve also connected to this and it is open all the way.
Anyone know what i can do. Thx

The powerhead does not have enough head pressure to do what your trying to do.

I dont think this is true i see people using smaller less powerfull powerheads, and ac power heads with no problem

after some trial and errors i believe u are right. what kind of pump should i get? for a 10 gallon sump and 55 gallon tank
