So I have had 2 aqua clear 70s running on my 45 gallon tall (3 feet wide by 2 foot tall). Currently its temporarily housing a lone 5in midevil (i know they get way to big its just temporary, he had to be separated from my 120). I have actual had a number of similar cichlid fish in and out of there (usually one at a time), as I use it as a back-up tank. Anyways I notice that most of the time these normally outgoing fish are hiding in a cave I have setup, even when its been a few weeks and they should have adjusted to the tank. I looked today and realized my 2 AC 70s create what appears to be a lot of turbulence in the tank, even though they are always set on low. Are 2 AC 70s too much for that size tank? Is it creating to much current for the fish to be happy? Please let me know, would love to hear what you think. Thanks!

Maybe you have extra turbulence because the return water is coming out high? In other words, fill the tank higher so there's less splash

Yes I try to keep the tank full as much as I can. Living in Vegas with it being very hot, and more importantly very dry. Im always topping off tanks. But even with it seems like a lot of turbulence? Any reason why the fish would hide in a cave all day when normally outgoing? It may have something other to do then the filtration?

You think this filtration would be too much for discus? Thinking of converting it to discus since it is a tall.
