I have an aqua clear filter and i was wondering if taking the carbon out and putting another bag of biological in there (making 2) will be beneficial or a waste of money?

Not only can you do it... you should do it. Or double mech. That sponge has a good amount of surface area for bio.

A little off topic.....
If i have a whisper ex70 running on one of my tanks, can i take out one or both of the cartridges and replace them with ceramic pieces and use it as a pure bio filter?
The friggen cartridges drive me crazy. So expensive and ****ty, they completely deteriorate after like two weeks.
