Hello Guys!

Im new to the forum so hello!

Well i have always been a fisher lover i have got back into it and for 1 year i have had a 220 liter Ar-980 now for you guys this would be a small tank but i live in england so for me its kinda big but my fish are getting bigger and making more waste so i will be upgrading soon.

The waste is insane! every month i spend 3 hours cleaning it out and a 25% water change and have placed 3 filters now i hope it solves my problem.

the one from Aqua one built in
a small fluval internal
a eheim ecco it holds about 5 liters not sure how many liters an hour it does

Amongs a few ciclids about 2 and a half inches i have an Oscar who is getting bigger by the week maybe 5 inches also a catfish about 3 and a half inches

i was going to get an FX-5 but i will see how the addition of my old EHEIM ECCO helps

also how do i move the large parts of crap on the floor would only an FX-5 do this or someone told me to get powerheads.

Basically i would love to have a nice clean happy tank with cool fish in there like you guys do i have seen some pictures and they are all so CLEAN!!

i have cleaned the algae from the sides but all my rocks are covered in algae and it looks crap!

i think i need alot of advice please go easy on me!

Patience.. haha - As far as the large chunks of crap just take a net and fish it out the pieces

You say you spend 3 hours 'cleaning it out' are you draining the entire tank? If so you should never do that, but i'll give you a chance to respond before explaining why so in case i misinterpreted you can tell me haha

Thanks for replying no ofc not i only did a 25% water change took 3 hours cos i live in a flat and i used a 3 liter bottle my tap is to far and i am not prepared for regular water changes right now!

So i was about to spend £140 on a FX-5 wont this lift EVERYTHING or i still need to use the NET:?

But your guys tanks are so perfect do you guys even with an FX-5 still find the need to use the net everyday cos Oscars are very messy!

I run a pair of AC110s on my 75 gallon, I have one oscar and still need to use the net. Plus think about it, if your filter is getting all the pieces of crap sucked up cleaning your filter would be an absolute nightmare.. using a net only takes a minute, and as far as WC's your best bet would be to make a siphon and get about a 5 gallon bucket (not sure how many liters that is) - it would drastically cut down your WC time.

Also, you should be doing WCs much more often than monthly, typically 10-15% weekly depending on your stock is a much better system for your water quality, especially with oscars and other large cichlids

How do you get the crap out from the rocks all around akward parts of the tank?
honestly FX-5 must be the answer all the tanks on this forum r mint

With high waste fish like oscars it's much easier to switch your tank over to a sandy substrate, as all of the waste stays up on top.
