I'm new to MFK and to ray's. Just picked up a teacup stingray a couple of weeks ago. We got some aqua terra sand, and it seems to be coating the ray. It's a pretty fine sand. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this sand, or if I should grab something else?

I'm also having problems getting the ray to eat anything but live black worms. I've tried frozen blood worms, and shrimp as well as smelt. He seems to try them, but not eat them, and only feeds when I put in the live black worms. Is it ok for him to fatten up on those for a while before I try to get him hooked to something else?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

someone mention on a post that fine sand will stick onto to ray. all ray all different, you have to be patience and get him what he eat at the moment. my rays was the same way. i was buying black worms for months. i was tired of keeping the worms in my frig and having to wash them everyday. took them months to take to nightcrawlers. they were on that for 4 months before they started to take solid food.

Thanks guys. I will just fatten him up and see if I can change him onto something else.
Also went and grabbed some playsand. I may mix it in with what I've got in there already.

Me persoanlly would not recommend any fine sand...One I have heard many times it can irritate the ray and seciond if u use a canister filter it can clog it up...
