Well, i finally got a aquaclear 110, thay are impossible to get here in Japan, i had to get one of my friends to bring it over..lol

Anyway, i pretty much have all the bio-filtration i need, so i want this to work as a 100% pure mechanical filter...any advise as to what i should put in to get the best results?

I was thinking maybe some ceramic tubes in the bottom, then a rough sponge and finally some fine fillter floss..does that sound ok?

Any advise is as always greatly appriciated!

I would go with a sponge, filter floss, then another sponge.

I use two sponges only on my ac110 and the canister has all the bio. This works really well for mechanical, easy to rinse out too. The problem I have with the 110 is the two sponges are so big, the top one sticks out so much that it's difficult to put the lid on all the way. One solution I'm looking into is using an ac70 sponge on top of the 110 sponge. On the smaller aquaclear's two sponges fit perfectly snug, in addition to the biomax bag, not so with the 110. If you included the biomax with the two sponges it would stick out a lot. Something new I tried recently with the smaller aquaclears. The first sponge goes in the usual way horizontal, the second sponge goes on top vertically and to the far left. There's a spot left over to the right to put the biomax bag. I have not tried this on the 110 yet. I like this layout better.

Filter floss is messy and too light, I never liked it. Two ac sponges are more than enough and add a prefilter sponge to the intake and your golden.
