Need a filter for my 55 gallon, but I am planning on upgrading to a 125 in the future. I am only trying to spend around 60$ Which one should I get? The aquaclear 110 or odyssea cfs500?

I used the AC110 for 5 years and it was still going strong when I sold the tank. It is easy to customize and is very easy to clean. It is essentially the same as the Eheim Classic in that it is an open space with no baskets. You can put anything in there that will fit. The large AquaClear brand sponge used for mechanical filtration is a great bio filter as well. Put carbon on top of that and for the last layer use Seachem matrix. It is as quiet as a canister except for the waterfall.
When I thought I had an issue Hagen sent me a replacement impeller just to see if that helped. I didn't ask for one and they didn't charge me. They are very customer oriented. The customer service agent I was speaking to said she has been using the same (2) AC50 units for 15 years. She had one for mechanical/ chem and one for bio. They also add oxygen to the tank because of the waterfall. A canister doesn't.
I think if you look long enough you will find a lot of iffy reviews of the odysea.

ac 110 even if (when)you up-grade just add 1 more or a couple of sponge filters

I upgraded to an AC110 after my 1 month old cfs500 suffered a catastrophic failure and pumped a lot of water out of my tank. As to why it broke. I may have let it get to full of crap and I may have tightened the lid to tight, but neither of those things should cause a major failure in a quality filter.

If you want a canister filter spend the money and get quality product not an Ebay knockoff.

This may be too late, but I also have both and have had problems with both. this aqua clear 110 is the loudest filter ive ever owned. im constantly cleaning the impeller. The cfs500 is nice. I got a faulty hose connection so im waiting for my new one to come in. I have a rena xp3 that has been awesome and my marinelands have been awesome apart from having to replace them every 2 years.
