Aquaclear 110 problem

How conveniently, my aquaclear 110 on my show tank breaks 2 days before my graduation party. Today, The impeller runs very loud with a grinding noise and then gets jammed and can't move at all! I believe that the impeller is off balance and is not in line with the rest of the motor, causing the noise. I cleaned the motor area and it is now obvious that the sand in my tank is not the reason. Is there something i can do to stop the jams? is this fixable?

I need help! :confused:

did you clean off the impeller itself real good as well? If so and still is causing trouble I would get an impeller brush and clean the inside around the metal shaft again rinse it out a few time's then see if it is making noise. If it still is you probably just need a new impeller.

The impeller is clean, but i suppose i will go ahead and try that again. I don't get why I would need a new impeller. Is the grinding and jamming a resault of it bending?
 
ok, the shaft appears to be worn and seems to be the problem. i believe that the sand in my tank is the culprit. Now to replace the shaft do i have to buy a whole new motor?
 
I was just going to say sand probably got sucked up. Same with my AC110, i took the impeller out and cleaned in there with a cutip, sand came out. After that it still ran kind of noisy, but after a couple weeks, it started to get quiet again.
 
well the shaft on mine was worn out so I ordered a new motor & shaft from Hagen and borrowed my Cusin's AC110 for the meantime. Thanks for your speedy replies everyone!
