soo... I read good things on the aquaclear filters and picked up a 70 tonight to assist my cascade 700 in filtering my 75 gallon.
Welll, I was excited and set everything up.. come to find out it doesn't completely fit over the ledge which causes the tube to not line up with the propeller... it doesn't seem like enough suction is happening...
is there anything I can do or I am going to find another filter???

yay! I managed to atleast get the suction going, the lid just doest fit on tight due to the tube not being placed exactly... hopefully all goes well!
time for a martini! happy new years :)
 
Can you post a photo... maybe one with you in it... demonstrating said misalignment? :naughty:
 
Ya I don't know why they make the Ac70 not fit the larger tanks. If ya can send it back and get an AC110, much better performing filter anyhow.
 
hahah... i got it working so thats all that matters, for now...

i think the size of it is stupid and i will consider getting the larger size... im just impatient and petsmart only has the 70 instore... so we'll see.

Nice pick up! AC70 is a great filter. Sux u couldn't get it to fit on your 75 but at least u got it working. I got my AC70 on boxing day for 20 bux. They were going like hotcakes and I was one of the lucky ones to pick up one from the last 3 that the LFS still had left. Best 20 bux I ever spent. I run one with my emperor 400 on my 38gallon and the flowrate on the AC70 seems alot stronger then the emperor 400.
 
I actually have an AC50 on my 26gal tank now, but was wondering if I should have gone for the AC70 instead. I've had the AC50 on there for a month or so and it's working great, so maybe there's no need to change unless my tank was overstocked or unless I want more water movement.
 
I had the opposite problem with my AC70. I ended up getting a wedge of wood and placing it between the outside glass and the filter. worked great until we had a earthquake lol
 
i have 2 ac70s on my 75g, and had the same problem as you. i just notched a little bit of the plastic of the tanks trim(the part that would hold up the glass tops) with a razor knife so every thing fits as it should.
