hey guys... right now i have a 30 gal with bichirs and a gravel substrate... i ordered a 75 gal since the fish are getting bigger... how do i transfer the water from the 30 gal to the 75 without resetting the cycling? im also gonna switch to sand substrate... thanks...:D

1. Dont switch the water. Its only adding nitrates.
2. Place the sand on the bottom of the 75 with the new filter running for two days. Take some old gravel and put it in a ziplock bag with holes in it and either place it in the new filter or put it next to the spray bar of the new filter or on the bottom of the tank to further help the cycle of the new filter
3. After two days, take your 30g fish and place them in gallon size ziplocks. Take water from the 30g tank, put it in the bag, and place the whole sealed bag in your 75.
4. Wait 15 minuts and release them.
5. Take filter from the 30g tank and place on the 75g tank with your new one running also.

There ya go!

Give it time, but if you upgraded tank size you might want to upgrade filter size also

:iagree: to the above statements.

Move 2/3 of the water to the new tank, add fish fill the rest of the way with fresh water.Run the filter from the old tank on the new tank alongside the new filter for at least 6 weeks.

bro i just change my tank from 35g to 80g 3 days ago.

what i did was transfer 20g of old water to the 80g then the rest was straight from tap water. my water right now is crystal clear, filtration is just seaquest 2200 w/ 4 ft OHF.
