looking to do something unique with new tank, anyone have any suggestions where I can find anything but the average pet store stuff

You can find some nice driftwood on ebay. I have a full sized skeleton that I am considering covering in pond coat and placing in a tank.

nice and simple would be
cover PVC pipes with silicone and then in gravel
i might do it tomorrow , and ill post pictures

build a pile of pvc fittings and silicone them together

silicone doesn't adhere to pvc. In the long run it'll fall apart. Connect pvc with pvc cement. The cured joints are inert (as they must be for human potable water supplies)

If you're setting up a tank for africans or for any fish that prefers high pH, you can incorporate deer and moose antlers. They're comprised of calcium and last many years in alkaline setups.
