Aquarium divider and filter process

I need to put an acrylic divider in the middle of
My tank to
Isolate my small ray from 2 female rays since the smaller oke doesnt seem to be doing well. My concern is my sump return and overflow are on the same side.


The acrylic does have holes on it. Will i encounter a problem with this setup amd divider?

Make the divider out of rigid poret foam. You can even turn the dividder into a sponge filter by adding pvc piping, elbow, and air.

Thanks , i can use matala mats , thought right now i was able to find light diffuser
