Cameras with only a built-in-flash are essentially worthless for fish photography.
Wait until your fish are acting normally before you start shooting. If you move them to a photography tank, you may have to wait several days before they settle down.
Start with very clean water. Change 50 percent the night before you plant to shoot. Clean the filters and the glass inside and out.
Aim the flash so that it doesn't hit the fish just broadside, but rather, as fish photographer Tony Terceira says, "Let it flow over and around your subject." This helps give your photo a 3-D look.
Get your eyes checked to ensure that you are seeing correctly, and get new glasses if you need them.
