Noticed my tank was getting Warmer and figured it was just the change of seasons so I turned my heaters down and no result. Ultimately turning them completely off and unplugging still with no effect. The water temp remains 83-84 degrees with 70-75 degree room temperatures. obviously I'm worried when room temps get 80+ degrees.

It's a 180g with total of 6 Maxi jet powerheads and 2 Magdrive pumps 18 and 24. Could they be heating the tank?

That's a lot of motor heat in a 180 gallon. I would absolutely agree that it could be the power heads and pumps. Is there any reason why you need that many power heads?

Place a small fan blowing onto any water area of the sump and it will cool the water off nicely, Have it go one when ur lights come on which probably is the time when it gets the hottest. drawback is evaporation. Works well though.

Mags put out a lot of heat, but beyond the norm, you may want to check if they are not working properly.
I had a Mag 18 that was somehow malfunctioning and heated 300 gallons of water to almost 90'F. I had to remove and toss it.
I found out when I touched it after unplugging heaters, and could not believe how hot the housing was. I believe sand had entered the volute warping the impeller.

It sounds like a lot of powerheads but it's really just two in tank for water circulation, 2 In sump for water circulation, and then one for a UV and one for a reactor.

Those mag drives are heating it. I had the same problem when I ran a 18 and 24 on a 300g tank

definitely could be them. That 24 is noisey

im definitely going to feel my pumps and see if they are running hot

I had the same problems with my 270 gallon system, I had to drill holes in my canopy and just keep the ceiling fan on . I no longer have any temperature problems. I was gaining about a degree or so a day until I drilled those holes. Tank needed some evaporative cooling to balance it out.

Hook up termostate on big fan. My 140w fan cool water in 1-2 haurs for 3 degress celsious in 220gal set up. Its great investement
Because my powerful UV sterelization I'm always using this fan set up. Great uv with slow flow can cook fish in few days....
:D

i have a lot of UV as well. Where do you place these fans?

The pump I had that overheated, was quite loud (rattly), I just didn't pay enough attention to the sound, because my fishroom is generally quite loud.

The mags aren't that noisey. The 24 definitely louder than the 18 though I think that's because they also sell it as a pond pump
