So ive got an order for a tank, the sizes are ( in centimeters ) 250x70x70.
The guy that is making the tank said that 12mm (glass thickness ) will be fine for this kind of tank
I'm a little auspicious bcuz im afraid that a fish can ram the side of the tank it might crack it, cuz for a tank that big u put monsters in.
And there is significant difference between the prices of 15mm and 12 mm
what do u think?

I'm just worried they get spooked and ram the side of the tank
Just being cautious :)

my tank is made from 12mm glass and it's 182x76x68.5 . I haven't set it up yet, but the maker says they haven't had a failure in 30 years.

After what my dovii has done I would go with 15 mm before I would say 12mm pffftt no way the fish can break that but..

This dovii did this....

Resulting in the death of the female and almost him. I will admit the tank was 6 years old and it is possible he rammed the wood not the glass, if it was 15mm I doubt it would of broken but. After this I personally just like the added benefit of knowing the glass is stronger especially if your adding larger fish.

I must also say, I do have friends who keep RTC, Pacu etc in 12mm tanks and they have never had an issue like this.

So your saying 12 is enough but 15 is for the good night sleep?

Are you talking about the height of the tank ?

You could have a tank of 12 with enuf bracing and won't have a trouble.... But IMO when your going big do it rite... I would go for the 15 just to have that mental peace...
