A friend of mine just gave me his 29 gallon aquarium, it was leaking voltage from the heater in the tank, he didnt know it was though, i stuck my hand in the tank to remove the heater and other odds/ends when i picked it up and got shocked!!! so i unplugged each item till there was no voltage leak, luckily the heater was the first thing i unplugged and i didnt get shocked after it was removed, well the ONLY fish in the tank that survived the possible months of torture was a 4-5" long upside down catfish of sorts.
it was very sad looking, it had zero fins left on it, all it had were the hard stumps where the fins grow out of, im not really sure what to call them, but they are normally hard on the catfish and the fins grow from them like webbing, its tail and anal fins were gone completely, only the muscle/skin covering mass was left.
anyway once i got him home, i put him in a tank with some convict fry (29 gallon) since then he seems to be doing better, and im a few convict's short now, but since my con's lay eggs every 2-4 weeks i think ill be alright.
now that he's been in the new tank for a week all his fins are starting to grow back, his tail fin is already over 1/4" long, i feed him shrimp pellots, flakes, and some tubiflex worms, he also gets some guppies or convicts every once in a while.
yesterday i noticed he had white spots all over him, not like normal ich, but it was white bumps almost like alot of pimples, so my question is: what are these and how do i treat them, will they go away on their own? he/she seems to be doing 10x better in the new tank than it was doing in the old tank, once all its fins are grown back to normal and its healthy looking it will get a new home in my 125 gallon south american cichlid tank.
