Finnex Digital Heater Controller with Deluxe Titanium Tube. Been looking at this one. What do you think about it

Same... I've had a few running for 5+ years with no problems at all.
I’ve had a bad batch of Aqueon Pros lately - and I purchased several from two different locations, so I don’t think they are counterfeit. They haven’t stopped working - just cook my Fish as they won’t turn off. I have gone to having two significantly undersized heaters as a fail safe.

I seem to go through at least one heater a year out of the three on my tank. I've been using the Aqueon pro lately. I just had to replace the probe on my Ranco controller so I decided to update the heater while I'm at it. I ordered a Finnex titanium 500w, I'll see how it goes.

I use cheap AquaTop heaters. They work quite well on their own, but I still have an InkBird controller on each one as a backup. They are only about $35 on eBay, and can handle 1000W worth of heaters. I sleep well with this setup.

Holy smokes... sorry to hear about any losses you've had!

It sucks to hear they're not made as well any more. I've got 6 or 7 that I've had for years (currently only using 4) and the only time I've had a problem with one is when I forgot to turn it off when performing a large water change. Loud pop and the heater was no more :(

I think the biggest thing to protect against failing heaters is to have a good controller.

My InkBird has both high and low temperature alarms. This way, if for some reason the heater gets stuck on, I will know, and if it fails off, I will also know.
