Aquarium height for cichlids

Thinking about getting some custom aquariums made. Want nice footprints, but not real tall tanks. So for CA/SA cichlids whats the lowest height id want to go. Might even use some for breeding purposes.

i would say minimum of 18 inch if you plan on keeping anything up to 12 inch long, they use all the water column so the height is appreciated

I would agree with above as I have heard and witnessed most cichlids prefer bottom half of 24 inch tall tank. That being said you are looking at SA/CA cichlids which grow large and are deep fish so a 24 might be better. Still even then we have a large Midas in a 22 inch he stays mostly near the bottom. Hope this helps.
