I have been using a walmart special strip light on my tanks up until yesterday. Since my old one crapped out I have been trying to find a cheap strip light with the on off switch on the side but they dont seem to make them any more so... I bought the bullet and purchased a Coralife T-5 light with the Colormax full spectrum tube. WOW I am not sure who's fish those are in my tank but I had no idea how much more vibrant my choice of light could make them!!!
I am going to pick up lights for my other tanks as well and since there are so many different tubes available maybe someone could help me choose the right ones to bring out the best in my fish.
The one tank will be full of SA/CA cichlids, Pbass, RT, etc.
The other tank will have African cichlids. Johanni, Peacock, electric yellow, etc.
Which type of lights would be best for these fish? The lfs has a tank where his venustus and peacock have an almost neon glow to them, he insists that it is just the quality of the specimens but I suspect that his choice of lighting plays more than a small part in it.
