Aquarium - mixing newts & fish

Do red spotted newts stand a chance in a 55g tank with rock bass & perch?

I would not risk it. The newt stands a chance of ending up as dinner for either of the fish. I suggest a smaller species of fish.

Red spotted newts will do okay with nonaggressive community fish near their own size but are at risk with any type of bass.

Anything smaller than a guppy will get eaten, and anything bigger than a guppy will eat them.

Not to mention you need a land area, which may or not be practical for you.
