SO CALI
I live on the 2nd floor of my condo building, what im wondering is would it be safe to put a 60 gallon tank in my living room without worrying about it falling thru?

Thanks.

yes!

60g @ 8lbs per gallon = 480lbs, plus a bit for the tank and stand. All in all this will likely not exceed 600lbs.
Thats three 200lb people.
I think it really should be safe : )

Just remember that old houses are built more sturdy. I went through alot of questioning and research with this when i wanted to put a 120 on the second floor of my house

Anything up to about 90 your safe easily. After that you need to be near a vertical brace or wall to be safe.

For instance I'm building a 300 gallon on the 2nd floor which is 3000 pounds loaded out. The only reason I can do it is I built the building and its overbuilt and I'm putting my tank directly about the support beam which is 10" around steel with 1.5" thick walls designed to support a 2nd floor with 10,000 pound vehicles driving around.

Just see whats underneath if you can. But for a 60. NO PROBLEM. Just invite two big guys over and stand close together. If you don't end up on the first floor your good to go.

I have 2x 55's and 2x 20Ls in the same 10 x 12 room right now on the 2nd floor with ZERO deflection at all.

Bottom line is if your not comfortable don't do it. But most here would agree GO FOR IT...... sorry two bottles of wine make my fingers long winded.

I sure hope so. I am on the 4th floor of my apartment building and have a 55g, a 40g, 2 x 29g, a 10g and a 5g throughout my 2 room apartment. None of the tanks have made a trip to the 3rd floor yet.
