Where eva theres Cichla!!!
Hey,

After setting up my 180 gallon (pics soon) i was eager to go out n get sum huge bits of driftwood....and i remember that this 1 particular aquarium had sum real nice pieces with annibius growing on them..When i rocked up there was a huge banner out the front with "new management" on it...i rubbed my hands together thinking i'll get a wicked deal...however when i did the walk round my jaw almost fell outta my head! the tanks were all disgusting and the fish were WELL over priced..at the top of my head i remember a green severum..juvie i might add was priced at $89.95!! i couldnt believe it...and the driftwood which usually costs say $25-40, was priced at $110.00 each! :swear: :swear: i had to leave...other wise i was gonna rip the guy over the front counter and dunk his head in the feral display tanks he had goin....

Has new management or changing of owners ruined any LFS near you??

ouch that sucks.. Double the price and then some for the driftwood. Should of said something about the price...

That sucks dude, dunk him.

Just because they are exotic fish does'nt mean they should have an exotic price:cry:.........
:grinyes:
my LFS sell's drift wood for $8 per pound not to bad I guess..
:D

that sucks, that has happened to two really good lfs in my area, Portland Oregon, one changed owners from father to son and the son was an idiot, dead fish everywhere, and another really good place lost there fish girl so its been going really downhill since then, they have saber toothed tetras for $110 each, now IM down to two good lfs, but only one of them is really really good

My lfs sells drift wood by the size, ie longest length. a piece that is over 24" long is 56.99. However these pieces are very good looking, and often very branched. I plant all my own plants cause its really easy, and I get more control on what I get on the wood.

One LFS near me used to have one of the best owners in the Chicago land area. He was one of the most knowledgeable people I've met so far, really enthusiastic about fish, and is the guy who really got me hooked. He ended up selling his shop though, and last time I was in there, there were tons of empty tanks, dead fish, and the marine section was basically gone. The business was basically run in to the ground. I'd be suprised if they lasted another year.

It sucks watching good shops go down hill like that.
