Hi all. I want to ditch my paper background and paint the back of my tank black. What kind of paint do you use?

I used standard latex house paint with good results kept the back painted for several years.(on a 150 saltwater reef)
Just rolled it with a foam roller, it took two coats.
Then later decided to change the color so a simple razor scraper took it off pretty easy.
This was a glass not acrylic tank.

I did one tank with a can of latex paint and a roller as noted above, simply because it was my 8ft tank that weighs a TON so I couldn't haul it into the yard to spray paint the back like I do with all my tanks - it went straight to the spot it was going to live until the day I die, and I rolled paint on there lol.

Everything else, I spray paint. Literally just did one last night. I've used either of these, and both work well.

There are lots of suitable and easy ways. My choice is exterior black flexible and crack resistant paint formulated primarily for wood, metal or glass.

Takes a couple of coats to completely "black out". The best thing is that if you want to change it, it just peels off in one big flexible stretchy sheet.IMG_20211031_081610_HDR.jpg

Thanks BIG-G BIG-G !!! Thank you Sinister-Kisses Sinister-Kisses ! My tank is coming out of the garage, so I will be able to spray it outside before I bring it in.
