Just wondering what everyone uses for their aquarium photgraphy? Im taking back some stuff to Best Buy today and was gona check out some of the cameras. I'm really not looking for a typical digital camera something more advanced I'd say. Looking at nikon's but not sure yet. Whats everyone use or what would be a good camera for say under or around $500 that what give more of a professional type of photograph?

a DSLR camera is the way to go for aquatic photography. the pictures are amazing. i use a Nikon D40. you could easily get one for your budget, or even the D3000 which is the D40's replacement.

here's a pic with my D40, just using the standard kit lens and no flashes :)

I think the newer version of my camera is down in the 500-600ish range. I have a Canon digital rebel. My XT is a bit older. The newer ones are in the 12-15 mega pixel range.

You could ask this question over at MFK's sister site of aquatic photography. there is a drop down box in the top right of this site that can get you there.

Or for ease....http://www.aquatic-photography.com/

Thanks Man,

They were actually the ones I was looking at on the Nikon website. I really dig all your photos that you post. You dont add any diffrent lenses to get better picture quality? Just the standard kit?

nope, just the standard 18-55mm :) i cant afford any nice lenses yet, but i really wanna start out with the 50mm

Cool, thanks for the advice! I like the idea of not having to invest in nice lenses just yet and still getting a great photograph
