aquarium plants not for looks but for water parameters?

hi all , i would like to add a plant down in my sump to help with water quality , what is best and which plants help in what way? has anyone done this before? cheers.

you want something that is fast growing. if it were me, I'd use hornwort.

Use hornwort plant...........$3 bunch will grow fast in the sump...........Get about $10-20 worth of Hornwort to kick start the process.........
