So I'm about to get my hands on a 220g tank and stand and it is about 6 feet from the bottom of the stand to the top of the tank. The sump will be directly underneath that tank and the plumbing (for the water returning to the tank) is designed to hit a "T" pipe which will push the water up to the return pipes on the 2 ends.

I need to buy a return pump for this monster and I was wondering if someone could give me some suggestions on where, what brand and even how strong the pump should be.

As far as tank's inhabitant... not 100% sure yet but probably 2-3 large cichlids, an arrowana and a few other oddballs.

Thanks in advance.

In using a mag drive 2400 on my 240. Im using the T design returns from a sump underneath and have plenty of gph. Returns also serve as air supplys

I've always used Mag Drives for my sump returns...Check around the stores in your area,if there are any or online.I get most if my supplies from Fosterandsmith.com.

What's the size of your drain and how many drain does your tank have? Whats the size of your return? Those info are important to decide what kind of pump you should get.

Reef Octopus Water Blaster pumps are awesome. I've got a larger one for a return on my 1000g tank. Very energy efficient and quiet for their size too.
