Aquarium Safe Wood?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't see how they can't be ? Put them in a tank and keep doing tests on your water.. (First I would boil somehow) then soak them for like a week in a tub to clean them up.

yeah I would put them in boiling water to kill all bacteria. anywhere from an hour to overnight. then at least you know they are clean and parasite free.
the only advantage of soaking the wood for a long time would be to remove the tannins that will leach out and stain the water that tea colour. if you don't mind the tannin colouration then you don't really have to soak them for a long time

If you have a small tank you should try it in there with a feeder fish or two just to be on the safe side..

Tannins from wood can stain your bathtub (wives really hate that, just in case you have one you would like to "not" piss off).
I soak big pieces in my rain barrels, or rubbermaid before putting in a tank.
