Aquarium safe?

not sure about the type but i have used GE and GE 2 to redo all tanks i have done. whatever you use just make sure it is 100% silicone! some of the GE brands have this bioseal stuff in it and its an argument between if it is safe or not but i have used it with great results. just go to walmart or something and get a 5$ tube of 100%

the additional info says its 100% silicone so i guess its worth a shot. do it and let it cycle with some feeders for a while and see how it goes from there :grinno: GL

perhaps you could just temporarily fill it with freshwater with some goldfish for a couple few weeks to leech anything that may be in it and to test the 'cone? im a salt newb but i have resiliconed some tanks in my day.

I would but this is goin to be marine. Dont want to spend the money in salt filling this thing up to see if it works.

Fill it up with freshwater to begin with then.

for 'testing' it doesn't have to be marine salt. Go buy a 50lb bag of rock salt for $6 at the hardware store and see if it eats into the silicone (which it won't). After a week or so, drain it, rinse it and fill it with the good stuff.

The MSDS on that product says there is no known chemical interactivity.

wasnt really talkin about the salt messing up the silicone, more worried about the fish dying from leaching chemicals. I could just fill it fresh and see if feeders do ok, but thats a lot trouble. Id rather just get a straight answer on it or just say F it and use the clear silicone i know is ok.
