Hey all, I would like to know; how much salt per gallon? And should I dissolve the salt first before adding? 2 of my bichirs suddenly had cloudy eye ( I don’t know the reason, guessing crash into tank as I heard a loud bang at night), and am thinking of adding aquarium salt to allow The Eye to heal faster. Thank you!

Really dk why they gain cloudy eye. Is it a water issue?

on the same bichir, 1 eye is a scrape, both eyes means there is something going on with the water. Salt (Sodium chloride) is not really required for an eye scrape. Aquarium salt is not any better than table salt. The only salt that I use for eye injuries is epsom salt, and that's for eye swelling.

Yup it’s only one eye for both bichirs. So there’s no point adding salt? Should I do anything else to treat instead

Test for water parameters. High ammonia or nitrate can also cause cloudy eye. If not you could try doing 30-40% wc everyday for maybe a week. My lfs treated its arowana without any meds just consistent 50% wc
